Endnote hyperlinks fail to work in exported PDF (InDesign 2025 & 2026)
Version of Adobe InDesign:
Affects both Adobe InDesign 2025 and InDesign 2026 (latest updates).Steps to reproduce the issues:
Create or open a document containing dynamic Endnotes in InDesign 2025 or 2026.
Verify that endnote hyperlinks appear normal, updated, and active inside the InDesign application workspace.
Export the document to PDF using either "Adobe PDF (Interactive)" or "Adobe PDF (Print)" with the "Hyperlinks" checkbox explicitly checked under the General export settings.
Open the generated PDF file in Adobe Acrobat Pro or any browser.
Attempt to click on the endnote numbers in the text to jump to the endnote text.
Expected result:
The endnote numbers should act as active, clickable hyperlinks that navigate directly to the corresponding endnote text at the end of the document/story (and vice versa), just like standard hyperlinks do.Actual result:
All standard hyperlinks in the document work perfectly, but the endnote numbers/links are completely dead, flat, and unclickable in the exported PDF.
(Note: Troubleshooting steps like updating/syncing links, exporting via IDML to clear corruption, and copying content into a brand-new blank document have all been attempted, but none resolved the issue.)
