idlm
I worked on a catalogue for a festival and finished my project, then exported a package as requested by the printer.
Of course, the package included fonts, images, and also an IDML file.
The problem is that the export to IDML introduced some errors that ended up in the printed version. My original InDesign file looked perfectly fine, but in the IDML, some objects appeared that were not in the InDesign file at all.
This has created a serious issue for me, as it now seems like the mistake is mine. However, I never opened the IDML to double-check everything, since this has never happened before and the IDML is usually generated automatically just for compatibility purposes.
What should I do now? And what happens if the client holds me responsible for sending something incorrect to print?
