Command + N doesn't work for New Document
For some unknown reason CMD + N has stopped working as a shortcut for a new document. In the File menu, it says it's programmed as a shortcut, but it doesn't work. I reset the shortcut and it temporarily works. If I open INDD and reset the shortcut, then it'll work when I use it. But if I close INDD and then try Cmd +N, it won't work. I've reset it numerous times. I've lost count of how many times INDD has updated. And nothing fixes this problem.
Currently working on the latest version of INDD (16.1). This problem has been persistent for many versions though.

Many versions later, Command-N STILL doesn't work. Please, it's a minor thing but irritating as heck. All your other apps have this basic Mac 101 command. Why did InDesign nuke it?

Mine haven't been working since at least Nov 2020. Please upvote here too so we can get this sorted:

I just updated my ID to CC2021 InDesign 16.4 and the problem still persists. Adobe, please fix this soon, shouldn't be too hard since it works fine after creating the first new document manually using mouse after restart.

Yes, this has been bugging me too. I've noticed it only fails once after you've launched the application. You have to do it manually the first time, and after that Command + N works ok until you quit the app and restart again. Annoying but at least there is an easy workaround for now. Adobe, please fix this soon!
