Indesign 2021 nuked my custom workspaces
Personal saved workspaces do not migrate from 2020 to the new 2021 version of Indesign.
- Version: Indesign 2021
- Steps: Automatic upgrade from 2020
- Expected: user interface continuity
- Actual: blew a deadline having to take the time to hunt down and manually move my workspace xml files over to the new version with the help of a reluctant tech via support chat
Luckily, manually moving the xml files seems to be a viable workaround, but there's no excuse for this bug. If a new version of Indesign is capable of automatically migrating preferences and workspaces, IT SHOULD HAPPEN, and if it is incapable, THE USER SHOULD BE NOTIFIED BEFORE UPGRADE!

According to support, this is technically not a bug because workspaces are officially not compatible between versions. So my workaround is not recommended. That makes the situation significantly worse! If workspaces are NOT intended to move from version to version with app updates, what is the point of saving and syncing them? What exactly IS Adobe's intended use here? Are users really supposed to be prepared to recreate our workspaces from scratch every time we update? Please tell me I'm mistaken and misinformed.
