In my particular case an InDesign document was placed into another InDesign document,
and it contained an image with Multiplication filter.
On the containing InDesign document itself the Multiplication filter is applied on the white default background of the page.
But when the InDesign is placed (inside the other InDesign), the Multiplication filter is applied to the elements below (which was a dark/black rectangle in this case), hence the whole image visually disappeared.
The fix was adding a white rectangle below the whole InDesign to be placed.
