Paste should honor layers!
Love layers!
But when I go to an older layout (in a current build) and copy all objects to a reformatted page, everything copies over onto a single layer. This is a PITA, with dozens of objects which should return to their assigned layers, acting as your new feature for pasting groups honors layers.
Would love to see Copy / Paste All Layers - perhaps combined through a special modifier key command with Paste in Place, equally valuable.

Have you tried using “Paste Remembers Layers” option in the Layers panel’s flyout menu and see if you get the desired result?
