Ignore Fit to frame options when replacing images whilst maintaining size
When I have the option "Preserve Image Dimensions When Relinking" selected, I would like it to override any Auto Fit to Frame options.
Right now I'm working on a catalogue that has several thousand pictures and all the frames are set to Auto Fit to Frame. When I relink the images (with the high resolution files) they all change size.

Interface
To the "Paragraph Styles" Tab (and any other Tab that has something like a list, layers, links, etc.) allow the user to use different colors for every row (like the "Action" Tab in Photoshop), but something the user can choose. It would make more easy to identify some styles that you use more often or are more important.

Add auto login feature
Please add auto login feature for Indesign so I wouldn't have to type my password in front of the customer or have the browser with my exposed gmail logged in. It's better in v13.

I want to delete/remove/manage Recent files from the Start panel.
I archive completed projects, but still have to wade through the empty icons in the Recent files list. It would be nice to right-click > Remove the icons. It must be a simple JDI thing! :)

Control over sorting order of Library assets
It would be very helpful to have control over arranging the order of assets in InDesign library. It would also be great to create folders within the library to group assets.

Bettter error handling. Stop resorting to hard crashes every time indesign encounters a problem.
Been using InDesign since it began. It completely/suddenly crashes/unexpectedly quits more than ANY program I have ever used. This has been well over a decade on more than a dozen totally different (mac) systems. Some versions have been more stable than others, but the program is consistently crash-happy.
I honestly don't mind that it has some issues—it does a lot and we ask a lot of it, I get it. But what I mind is how horrible it is at dealing with problems. Does it have to completely CRASH every time it gets confused? It's like it throws its hands…

Disable help and tips windows
Most of them, as a long-time user of InDesign, Are not useful for me.
Specially when they come in front of needed buttons and cannot be closed (bug ?).3 votes -
Integrate InDesign ME with InDesign
I currently require occasional use of right-to-left text and therefore require InDesign ME. A major problem with the ME version, however, is that the help page defaults to Arabic. Since I’ve chosen English يدعم العربية as my language choice, one would think an English option would also be available, but no such luck. It really isn't clear to me why the ME version needs to be a separate product rather than simply integrating the right-left features directly into the regular version

Allow the cursor to change from black to red, or any colour in spectrum (colour blind)
Create a colour cursor option to change colour from black to red/green/blue/etc. I find extremely difficult to follow the black cursor in InDesign as it competes with the various Application Frames./dropdown menus.

Add a Shortcut for Effects (instead of Dropshadow)
For some reason, only the Drop Shadow effect has a keyboard shortcut. So if we frequently use an other effect, we can reacht the effects panel by choosing the keyboard shortcut for Drop Shadow. But then we have to first switch off the Drop Shadow effect.
Why not create a Shortcut to the effects panel, without activating Drop Shadow.[more: the shortcut currently adds a Drop Shadow AND opens the panel, which is inconvenient if you (for some reason ;-) want to use Drop Shadows all the time.]
Needs a UX rework.

Adjust Layout
Adjust Layout is not working right. Please give the option to adjust only margins and nothing else as was working good in CC 2018. The new feature is giving a lot of trouble.

Add a new menu item to the menu bar: Indexes
Ideally, indexing should have a menu all its own. The fact that it's only got a panel that opens from the Windows menu suggests it's an afterthought, and it's very limiting, because it means I can't create my own keyboard shortcuts for indexing functions.

InDesign Book (indb) icon
The icon for indd and indb are almost identical. when looking at a folder full of indesign docs it can be a bit difficult to quickly recognize the book file.
Would be nice if the book file was a different color.

Save/open template with basis name instead of untitled.indd
It would be nice if it would be possible to save an InDesign-template with something like a basis-name (like "COMPANYXYbusinesscard").
For example: I create a template with the basis-name "COMPANYXYbusinesscard".
So if I have to create a new business card for "company XY" I just open my template and press "save". The name "COMPANYXYbusinesscard" is already in the name field instead of the usual "untitled.indd". Now I only have to add the name of the person who gets the new card instead of entering the whole "COMPANY_XY..." name.…

Make 2019 InDesign actually work
2019 spins endlessly on start-up, so that we've had to go back to 2018 InDesign to get work completed.

Change Jpeg export default to 300 dpi (Or whatever your preference)
When InDesign restarts it defaults the export setting for jpgs to 72 dpi (ppi). I use a script that exports for me and needs to export at 300 dpi. With the default it will revert to 72 dpi every time I restart InDesign and I have to manually reset it to 300 dpi. There needs to be a preference or setting that makes it so I can keep my preferred setting of 300 dpi after a restart without having to manually reset it in the dialog box every time.
