Template Automation from CSV File
Dear InDesign Support Team,
I hope this message finds you well.
I am writing to inquire about a feature that I believe would greatly enhance the efficiency of template usage within InDesign.
Currently, I often work with templates that contain a simple layout consisting of a picture (a person's image) and text (the person's name) underneath it.
These templates serve as the basis for creating multiple pages, each with unique content.
What I would like to request is the capability to automate the population of these templates using data from a CSV (Comma-Separated Values) file.
Specifically, I envision a feature where InDesign can import or process a CSV file, with the first column containing the names of individuals and
the second column containing the file paths to their respective images.
InDesign would then automatically create pages based on the template, populating each page with the corresponding name and image from the CSV file.
This automation feature would be incredibly beneficial for tasks such as creating directories, event programs, or any document where a
template needs to be populated with data from an external source efficiently.
Such a feature would save users like me a significant amount of time and effort by eliminating the manual and repetitive task of creating individual pages for each record in the CSV file.
I understand that InDesign is a powerful design tool with a commitment to user-friendliness and productivity.
I believe that this proposed feature aligns well with those principles and would be a valuable addition to the software.
Please consider this feature request, and I would appreciate any information you can provide regarding its feasibility or any plans for its implementation in future updates of Adobe InDesign. If you require any further clarification or have questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.
Thank you for your attention to this request, and I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,
Silviu Mocanu
