I would like to draw the Chapter Title in a text variable from the File Info rather than trying to use the First on page/last on Page and setting a Paragraph style. It would be much faster, easier and more reliable to let us grab a field from File Info. I can get the Chapter File to update but then it won't appear in the TOC and the work arounds show that the software simply does not want to work the way one would expect. I work in a variety of other software packages and they ALL allow us to pull date from the File Info to fill fields like Title, Pages, Dates, Author and place them in the document and have that passed when files are combined with no issues but InDesign completely lacks any form of intelligence in this regard and it is a serious short coming when combining multiple chapters into a project. The documented ways seem to work well enough in a single file but not during combination.
