1. Add Date function to the Interactive Forms Creator in IND

   Add ability to put date formatting into the IND form creator (ie MM/DD/YYYY) - its a PAIN to add this in Adobe Acrobat AFTER I create a form in IND (especially when I have to make a change to the form within InDesign, I have to go back and re-add all of the places where I used Adobe Acrobat for date fields.)

4. Pop window note

   I work within teams that open and close ID files. The existing noting and share for review is just too slow and complex for the majority of the work we do. It would be absolutely amazing if you could save a simple twitter style small note when saving. So when the next person that opens the file can read it as soon as it pops up on open and can either choose to keep it / ignore or dismiss the note. Which will get rid of it. And you can only save one note to the saved file which will open. This would be extremely small and useful tool if you work in fast paced and teams that are in a chain.

5. If Adobe could do a spreadsheet application

   This is not a specific feature request, but more a general idea about Adobe doing a spreadsheet application.
   Think about using functionality in Illustrator and InDesignTo be able to draw new sheets in threaded “Spreadsheet boxes” and “Cell boxes”, using layers for calculations/functions/data as well as text/graphic assets, writing functions and formulas in native language, using any graphics assets for conditional formatting and diagrams, place files in InDesign with full compatibility, advanced text formatting in Text Boxes nested with “Spreadsheet boxes”, tear-away panels.

6. InDesign Cannot Artifact Leader Dots (Accessibility)

   InDesign has no way of artifacting leader dots. This can only be done in PDF. Leader dots are commonly used in tables of contents to guide the reader's eye from the end of the entry to the page number. Leader dots are voiced by access technologies such as screen readers and force users with disabilities to hear, "DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT DOT ..." If they are not artifacted. This is a painstaking process that requires InDesign users to learn PDF Remediation, a highly specialized skillset that is typically outside the role of the average Graphic Designer. Currently, the process for artifacting leader dots is to ind the first leader dot in the Tags tree. Right click on it and choose Show in Content Panel. Expand the content containers until you find the first set of leader dots. Right click on them and choose “Create Artifact.” Ignore the options panel and click “OK” to set the artifact. Repeat with all other leader dots. This issue affects EVERY SINGLE InDesign user who is required to make accessible content. Please make artifacting leader dots an option within InDesign so painstaking remediation is not required.

   InDesign Cannot Set Actual Text

   InDesign has no way of setting actual text. This can only be done in PDF. Actual text is set when acronyms are used. Access technologies such as screen readers cannot properly read acronyms such as USA. They voice them as words, like "Youusah." Actual text has to be set for the document to be read correctly. This is a painstaking process that requires InDesign users to learn PDF Remediation, a highly specialized skillset that is typically outside the role of the average Graphic Designer. Currently, the process for setting actual text in Acrobat is as follows: Find the acronym in the Tags tree. Open the Accessibility tool and choose Reading Order. Drag a marquee over the acronym and tag it as what it is – paragraph/text or a heading level. The Tags tree will collapse. Open the Tags tree again to find the new acronym Tag. Right click on the new acronym Tag and choose “Properties”. Type the acronym with spaces between each letter in the Actual Text field, for example “U S A.” Spaces will cause the acronym to be read correctly. 9. Better use of tags to create a barrier-free PDF with InDesign

   Hello Adobe InDesign Team

   for accessibility I have to use TAGs in PDFs. I creat my PDF out of InDesign and InDesign has already some features to add TAGs and structure to a PDF when exported but some features are buggy or incomplete so the PDF has to be revised manually, which is a big disadvantage especially when there are changes in the original InDesign file later.

   So here some of the most imported things I would changes to make this process easier.

   1. Add PDF/UA-1
      A barrier-free PDF need the PDF/UA-1 Note in the XMP-Metadata. I can only be done via Acrobat by now. (see PDF-UA-1.jpg)

   2. Add custom alternative text to „all“ link-TAGs
      Every link-TAG needs an alternative text to be barrier-free. By now you can only add custom alternative texts to links-TAGs that are created via the hyperlink window. But InDesign creates also link-Tags for other elements where you can not add an alternative text. This is the case if you

   3. create a table of contents with InDesign

   4. use end or footnotes

   5. use cross-references

   6. Missing Tags in the Paragraph Styles tag export setting
      In the Paragraph Styles setting under Tagexport is no option for a caption tag or a quote tag:

   7. Undefined path object
      If I use graphical effects for texts or tables (drop shadow, colored underline for text, colored text box, line between table rows…) this path objects are not tagged when exported. They need to be tagged as arte fact.

   8. Tabel, TH not THead , TD not Body
      InDesign exports tabels with wrong tag. The tag for a table head is TH not THead. The tag for a table cell is TD not TBody. Also you need to be able to be more precise to define what cell is a TH in a tabel and what cell is TD. Also you have to be able to define if TH in a column refer to TD in a row. See tabel-head.

12. InDesign App for Ipad

    We want an app version of InDesign for the iPad. It’s time.
    Now that Ipad has the same M processor as computers and more and more people/colleagues who work on the move are choosing the Ipad solution. Possibly with the ability to access files directly from an external drive (usb-c is now standard on Ipad too) and not just through the cloud.
    When we travel there is not always the possibility of having access to an internet network. Adobe competitors are giving alternative solutions to InDesign for Ipad. With what we pay for the subscription, I believe you have to make an effort to meet the needs of your customers. Thank you

13. Add color to alpha option for linked images

    I would like to be able to set the white background of a black and white UPC png to transparent. Using a clipping path does not work very well with UPCs as it either clips off some of the bars or leaves some white space around the numbers.

    I don't see how it would be too difficult to define a color as transparent for a linked graphic to make it not necessary to edit the original graphic.

    I hope to Index "Index entry", "page reference" and "Yomi" CSV export Feature.
    Currently, the Japanese version does not sort as expected and the indexing function is difficult to use.
    It would also reduce the difficulty of indexing in multi-person operations.

    索引の「項目」「ページ番号」「読み」をCSVで書き出せるようにして欲しい。
    現状、日本語版はソートが期待通りいかず、索引機能が使いづらいものとなっている。
    また、複数人の作業における索引作成の困難も軽減してくれると思われる。

16. Export JPG with specific name and as a background task

    Now that many users are using INDD to prepare web graphics INDD needs a feature to be able to name the page so when the pages are exported as JPGs or PNGs they are named properly.

    I found a script to do this but it would be great to build this into the application. All that would be needed is a variable where we could add the name and INDD would look at that text frame to name the exported files.

    This is important to do it this way so this can be a feature of data merge as well. In addition to content for the web graphic coming in from a CSV users can also have a column with the page name so INDD uses that specific page name during the export to name the exported files.

    Now that many users are using INDD to prepare web graphics INDD needs a feature to be able to name the page so when the pages are exported as JPGs or PNGs they are named properly.

    I found a script to do this but it would be great to build this into the application. All that would be needed is a variable where we could add the name and INDD would look at that text frame to name the exported files.

17. Make PNG/JPG Exports Background Tasks

    As the topic says... having the export of PNG/JPG files as a background task would be extremely helpful for those of us working in comics and doing high volumes of rendering work.

    Likewise, making this a multithreaded/parallel process for speed and efficiency would also be highly appreciated.

18. Enlarge maximum image export sizes

    I work for a company which uses InDesign for webtoon-style comic content. These are often extremely long vertical images (10000-20000px is common). When attempting to export to JPG/PNG for processing, InDesign will not process the larger files, claiming that they exceed the maximum size, even at resolutions as low as 200dpi (webtoons typically go online at 350dpi so these images need to be upscaled).

    Exporting to PDF and re-exporting to the relevant image format allows the images to export at size, but often with additional scaling and does not 1:1 match the original pixel size.

    This clearly isn't a limit to the file spec but to the engine.

19. Page Layout Management in Bridge for InDesign Files

    It would be extremely beneficial to have a feature in Bridge that can interact with InDesign files, allowing for the visualization of individual pages directly within the Bridge interface. Furthermore, the ability to compose an overall layout for a magazine or book from separate pages in Bridge, or another similar software, would significantly improve the workflow for many users.

    This feature could save us countless hours, improve collaboration between teams, and potentially revolutionize the way we create composite pieces.

    I was trying to work out how to set InDesign hyperlinks to open a new tab in a browser. I have learned this is not a feature that is in InDesign.
