Why is it so hard to handle type on a path in InDesign?
Why is it so hard to handle type on a path in InDesign?
At present is it clumsy, inarticulate and frequently unresponsive. You often can't select the path the type sits on.
As an example, try putting type on a circle. It is hard to centre and only sits at the top. It's quite common to want type on the bottom of a circle too, especially if you are creating a sort of stamp design.
In the old days of Freehand, which you own, all you had to do was specify centre, type away, and for text on the bottom just hit carriage return and type the lower text. Job done in moments. How could you not incorporate this ease of use into InDesign? Currently you have to create an entirely new path that sits on top of the old one and spend an age trying to adjust where they type now sits and hope it all fits when you have finally had just about enough of it.
You have made it so awkward you can almost lose the will to live trying this simple exercise. Seriously, how hard can it be to simplify this?
Freehand is an obsolete programme which runs rings around you in certain areas. Please look at this.
