InDesign file size out of control
Working on a large 2500+ document and any time I open and make even a minor update - just updated the TOC automatically - the file balloons from 48MB to over 72MB in size. Unnecessary. Please get this under control. Thanks.

I've noticed the same thing, even with significantly smaller documents. I could save something with between 10–20 pages, and the file size might go from 5 to 7 MB, or from 9 to 11 MB, or similar. However if I manually Save As over the file, the file size barely changes.
That tells me there's something else happening and I definitely don't understand why or what it is. However, in my mind, if Save As creates a file of near identical size as the original, why should a regular Save do anything different?
And even more bizarre to me is how space-efficient IDML files are. XML is probably the most inefficient "human-readable" language to describe a document, and the time required to parse and export to IDML is mind-numbing, but it's saved me from all kinds of problems that somehow get baked into the normal INDD files over the years. It really makes me wonder if there isn't something broken in the standard Save function.
