InDesign - General ''style sheet and Master Page'' document attached to a book
Hi All ! I think a ggod emprouvement can comes in InDesign with this idea :
Right now, I'm often working on catalogs with multiple INDD files.
Right now, I have to create a ''Base File'' where I configure all the styles of each sections/chapter and where I have to configure All the master page for each section of my catalog too.
Well, each of my indesign file contains all the styles and, in fact, all the Master Pages of each section.
Result : I star my layout with a file of 40Mo containing 30 Master pages.
So, you''l say that I can delete them, but it's a dynamic job, and sometimes, I have to change the ''BASED Master page" that change all my Master pages.
An if I want to view changes, I have to upgrade each INDD file importing (scratching) the old master page with the new one I've corrected.
Here, I'm on a catalog of 53 INDD files and +/- 500 pages.
You can imagine the time I take to update all the masterpages, one by one...
THE IMPROUVEMENT :
Is it possible to imagine something like web css file, with a specific file format attached to the 'Book' function and that contains
- All Styles (charactere/table/paragraph)
- All Colors and gradient
- Most important : All Master pages.
A sort of file like the Library, but for the styles and masterpages.
Than, it could be synchronised easily with the book function and all the INDD files 'attached' to this book.
It could be a great improvement for catalogs users !
What do you think about that ?
Best Regards,
Fred
