save the set of all open files
If you live in an environment where you have to shut down InDesign and start it up again, such as a corporate "day job" or if you want to backup your files at night:
Offer an option to reopen all of the file tabs that you had open when you last quit.
I often have a set of four files open, two of which are open in two windows/tabs., for a total of six windows/tabs. It would be nice to be able to start up InDesign and have it automatically reopen all those files, basically getting back to where I was when I stopped working and had to shut down InDesign.

Also, if you have a file open in two windows or two tabs in the same window, but with different portions of the files showing in the two windows or tabs, those should be restored as well.

This would be even better if it also opened not just .indd files, but indb Book Panels as well.
I know InDesign can do this, as I was just synchronizing an .indb Book file/panel when InDesign crashed, and when I restarted it after the crash, all of my files, including my two .indb files, opened. Just need to offer this to users as an option. However, this recovery function only opened one window/tab for my files, and for two of the files I had them open in two tabs. Also the Book Panels were not in the side column where they had been but in the middle of the screen. -

Seconded. Even a File > Save All option, or a button in the Book panel that actually saves the files (not just the .indb file), or something up where the document names dock along the top.
I'm working on a book with thirty chapters right now, and having to go through and re-save each one after I update the page numbers is a hassle!
