Open hyperlinks in new tab
You could update the software with the function to open hyperlinks in new tab within PDFs and other formats. This is very necessary.

When readers open a pdf in a browser (which is default behaviour with new installations these days) a hyperlink opens in the same browser-tab as the current document ... thus closing the pdf that is being read ... not the behaviour you want (i think).
I tested this with the current version of Chrome and Firefox. -

Add it, please!

Hey Adobe — no-brainer — I've been using you apps since the 1980s; this isn't the era of Aldus PageMaker. How hard can it be to add this feature?!

This is still an issue years later! Adobe, please action this! My organization has to manually open each PDF and EPUB we produce as HTML to manually edit the <a href> tags to get the behaviour we require on our doc portal. This wastes so much of our time for something we're astonished isn't available OOTB.

C'est une fonctionnalité qui serait très interessante

This is critical to implement! We create patient guides for people with cancer. Our readers MUST be able to click on a link and digest that material without losing their place in the book. Shame on you Adobe.

Its a really basic function!

OMG! I was also looking how to do it! Actually I´d like to export a HTML document, so I´d expect the open in blank page, for hiperlinks, would exist...

Yes...this needs to happen! Spent a lot of time searching for a work around for such a simple thing and sadly I do not think it exists.

I agree with the speakers below.... the ability to determine HOW a hyperlink opens is just as important as the link itself. The fact that code that's been used as an <A> tag modifier since HTML 3 is still not available is amazing to me when I see all the pointless features I never use in InDesign being added. Acrobat has the ability to read it since it's the only current way to set a Target="_blank" to get a new window at the current time. If Acrobat can read it, InDesign should be able to insert in and keep it with the hyperlink library for future updates. This isn't a bug, to me this is a broken feature.

I cannot believe it's still not possible to open a link in a new tab with Indesign docs. It's a basic function. Please add this feature. I love Indesign but this is a major flaw in the system that seems an easy fix.

Please create an option when exporting to Interactive PDF's to have them open in a new window - this seems like such a basic feature and you have so many amazing features - is there a reason this is just not possible. I know it works in the PUblish Online version but sometimes our users can't open that and we need to send an interactive PDF. Thanks!
