Text Variable "Running Header" to work across indvidual Indesign files within a Indesign Book
"Running Header" working across multiple indesign files within a book would allow a more modular approach to book production: common elements such as headers and footers can changed globally within a book, that shares some of its content i.e. individual indesign files, with another book but whose headers and footers must be different.

Dear god, please sort this out! It's ridiculous that this doesn't work between Book functionality within indesign.

Just ran into this problem. I have a book with 3 sections. At the start of each section there is a section header style, which is used to populate a running header throughout the document. It works great when everything's kept in one single document, but if you split docs up via the BOOK feature, the individual docs are not able to "see" and continue the running headers from the previous document. Running headers / variables / should be able to communicate between the documents of a BOOK.
