improving master page functionality
It would be super helpful if i could create a master page with regions of text and then apply that to pages. Then, those regions could be edited in the page with the correct information, but if i needed to edit the placement of the stuff, i could change it in the master and it would sync to the page.

Yes. This would be really nice for making books. I just had a customer want to switch from print to PDF. I needed to get rid of the extra margin I put in for the binding. If master pages had editable text fields, I could have simply re-positioned the text boxes on my master page. Unfortunately, every text box on the 200-page document had been unlinked from the master page. I had to do it all by hand.
In QuarkXPress, this function is very easy to achieve with master pages. Text fields inherited from Master can be edited without unlinking the text box position from master.
I felt hurt when BobLevine said this feature goes against what master pages are for (https://forums.adobe.com/thread/439346). johns3470314 gave a good argument for why it would be useful.
