I have the same issues.
If I want to open a new or existing document and work with it, at some point the shortcuts and the entire keyboard won't work anymore. But only in InDesign - when I press Alt+TAB or the Windows key, everything works fine. After that, the Keyboard in InDesign work again - until it doesn't react again any time. It has to be said that InDesign doesn't freeze - the mouse still works. The internal keyboard of my new notebook is affected. But I already connected external keyboards - the same problems.
Is there a solution or do you know the cause of that issue?
Thank you for your support all this while. The issue is now fixed in the latest update of InDesign.
Please upgrade to the new InDesign 14.0 from your Creative Cloud Application.
If you are unable to see the update yet, click on the menu (three dots) on the top right corner of Creative cloud app and click on “Check for App Updates”.

I have the same problem. As soon as I activate or select a text tool for the first time, the complete system freezes.
Running latest InDesign with the following specs:
Intel Core i9
Nvidia Quadra P2000
