Until then, there's this (not free) script, that lets you autofit column widths, and even to redistribute the remaining columns widths afterwards. Worth checking out!

Currently, you can do almost all of the above (except #5) with a 3rd-party add-on called Footwork: https://www.id-extras.com/products/footwork/
