Based on the recent comments from users saying that they are no longer encountering this issue after the release of 14.0.1, we are marking this as Fixed.

It seems to me that something triggers it because it isn't always a problem when first starting InDesign. To perhaps reiterate what has been said in previous comments; this exists in CC2015, CC2017 and CC2018 in Sierra and High Sierra. (Haven't tested versions older than that.) It also exists in InCopy.
The issue appears to be connected with the font SnellRoundhand.ttc associated with "2018". I can open the file if I have it installed but I can't change it (because using Type > Find Fonts crashes InDesign). If I don't have it installed then I can't open the file because it crashes while on the missing fonts page. (Also, if you hide "2018" in the Layers panel then you can create a PDF without it.) Any interaction whatsoever at all with that particular text frame - even if you try and change the style associated with it - will cause InDesign to crash.
