This issue has been resolved in the latest version of InDesign - InDesign 18.4
Please update to this version of InDesign from Creative Cloud Desktop application to get the fix.

Still happens in 19.3, Mac on Sonoma 14.4.

Still having this problem in ID 19.1, Mac running Sonoma 14.2.1.

3 months later, I'm still having these issues. ID and Mac are as up to date as they can be.
Opening and closing multiple times and crossing my fingers on if it'll be usable or not really hurts production.

there's another card that says this has been fixed and addressed. For the record, this still pops up many versions later. Please look at it again, Adobe!

It's been happening for a year. They said it was fixed in previous versions but it continues to happen. Mac running 14.4.1, ID updated to 19.3.
