I would like to echo that this bug be fixed. I'm surprised that not more people have complained about it. Not critical but becomes highly irritating when exposed to it day after day. Seems like a simple fix.
I'm using version 18.3 x64, updated today, May 26. 2023

Of critical importance in writing scientific/medical books and papers. Don't see a workaround.
Could be implemented using cross-references that refer back to the endnote paragraph. like figures do

I'd like to add a request to include the ability to insert spaces of various widths, e.g., a thin space, en space, em space. Currently the spacebar inserts a wide space with no way to adjust it. It will help tremendously to improve the readibility of equations and avoid ambiguities.
