Fix for this issue is available in the latest InDesign 2026 release (21.2.0.30) and InDesign 2025 LTS release (20.5.2.078), please update to this release from CCD app.

Version: InDesign 21.0.2
Often when I select text, it disappears, only to become visible again after zooming or changing the viewing mode.
I haven't found a way to reproduce the problem, it seems to be random. -

The fix of the issue is now available in the latest InDesign 2026(v21.0.1.006). We recommend you upgrade to the latest version for the fix.
If you are unable to see the update, go to the Creative Cloud application, click on the context menu on the top right, and click on Check for App Updates.

All our office PCs have 16 GB of RAM. After reading some comments below, we tried adding an 8 GB stick to one of them, and for now this seems to have solved the problem.
We're still waiting for a fix, though...
A forced system update is not an acceptable solution.
