    I would add, that for placed artwork already in Illustrator/EPS/vector format, it would be excellent to "pass through" the groups and layers in the Illustrator file. I have art that is well organized in layers and groups. I place it in InDesign. I export a PDF/EPS file. Somewhere down the line, another person has to use the files and make changes (such as, they use Corel or another app that cannot directly open INDD files so I can't export/package for them) and if the groups/layers are preserved, they can more easily make changes, saving them time and reducing the time they charge to us for making said changes.

    Agreed, I waste a lot of time on skipping the same static pasteboard notes all the time.
