Make the (Black) Color Swatch a TRUE BLACK
In the Appearance Panel, the (Black) color swatch is not a TRUE BLACK color and when this color swatch is used and a file is exported to PDF, Rich black is not achieved.
The attached document shows a few shapes that are black. The top right is a true black color and the color swatch had to be changed from the standard (BLACK) color swatch in order to be achieved when exporting to a PDF. The left and bottom color swatches have the (Black) color swatch from the appearance panel applied.
Please, Please, Please, make the (Black) color swatch a…

A reference to panel item 25 breaks a script
There's a rogue panel that breaks InDesign CC2019 when it is referenced (CC2018 is not affected).
Open InDesign CC2019, then run this one-line script:
app.panels[25].name
Result: Error: 'Invalid object for this request'.
Now do this:
app.panels[25].isValid
which returns true.

Inner glow size limited to 144pt
Setting innerGlow size to larger than 144 pt via script causes an error for invalid value outside an expected range of 0-144. However, the UI allows size up to be over 13 inches. I have not tested all the other effects, but I believe this is the case for inner shadow and feather as well.

ScriptUI Centering Breaks when switching monitor
If you switch monitors (i.e., unplug your laptop from a large monitor and go to present at a conference), and don't restart InDesign, scriptUI doesn't update the center position of the monitor.
It causes scriptUI windows to appear out of place.

ExtendScript access to animation path object
Inside of the animationSettings, there's no way to access or manipulate the motion path as a path object.
It would be useful to have access to that path and be able to run path functions on it (add/remove points, simplify, etc).

UXP, InDesign: WebView postMessage does not work in 20.4
Since version 20.4 of InDesign, sending messages to the WebView element no longer works. Here is a dummy plugin to reproduce the behavior.
https://kdrive.infomaniak.com/app/share/1606376/dbdbc8c1-10c3-4c9a-b4ce-d048fc2864fd
How to test?
Click on the “Send message” button.Expected behavior?
The message “Hello form panel!” appears in the Webview element (white background).In InDesign 20.3 it works, from 20.4 no longer.
Why is this important?
This affects the functionality of one of my published plugins.Code:
Plugin:
const sendMessageButtonElem = document.getElementById("send-message-button");
sendMessageButtonElem?.addEventListener("click", () => {
/* Send message to WebView */
const webviewElem = document.getElementById("webview") ;
webviewElem.postMessage({
"message": "Hello from panel!"
});
});
Webview:

Need Control over Adobe Fonts
Currently there is no straightforward way to detect Adobe Font usage in a document. There needs to be an API to determine which fonts are used in the document (exists) and of those fonts which of them are auto-activated Adobe fonts (does not exist). In addition, it would be great to expose an method for forcing Adobe Fonts used in the document to be activated, and for monitoring the status of the activation. Of course, you can enable auto-activation for the document to trigger when it is opened, but this seems somewhat unreliable in our experience, and in any case…

Request for Full Support of Persian Standard Half-Space (\u{200C})
Subject: Request for Full Support of Persian Standard Half-Space (Zero-Width Non-Joiner: \u{200C}) in Adobe InDesign
Dear Adobe Support Team,
I am reaching out to highlight some significant issues with Adobe InDesign’s handling of the Persian half-space character, also known as the zero-width non-joiner (ZWNJ), encoded as \u{200C}, which is widely used and essential for accurate Persian typography. InDesign currently does not fully support this character, which leads to numerous issues that affect document formatting and usability for Persian-language users.
Specific Issues with Persian Half-Space Support

QR Code Contents Reader
Hi,
It would be really helpful if we were able to access the contents and colour of a QR code using a script so that they can be batch updated using a script.
For example, I have hundreds of documents containing 100 Web Hyperlink QR codes and I want to update all the ones that contain "utmcampaign=summersale" to now be "utmcampaign=summersale" and turn all the QR codes that are black to now be red.

findColor() returns a number, it should return objects to which the colour was applied
Using the Colour tab in the Find/Change dialog you can search text and/or objects to which a certain colour was applied in the document. That works fine.
However, in a script, this call:
app.findColorPreferences.properties.findWhat =
app.documents[0].swatches.item ('red');
app.documents[0].findColor();returns the number of objects to which the swatch 'red' was applied. It should return the objects to whci the swatch was applied.
This makes the function entirely useless. Please fix this.

Moving Anchoring Text to Anchored Object Crashes InDesign
Given a Text instance (
source) that contains an anchored object (U+FFFC marker), the commandsource.move(…)crashes InDesign if the destination (TextFrame, Text, InsertionPoint…) is itself an anchored object (or inside it).Code:
// Tested in ID CS6 and CC
// (see animation)
const BEG = LocationOptions.AT_BEGINNING;
var TFS = app.activeDocument.textFrames;source = TFS.itemByName('source').texts[0]; // Text: contains the anchor
host = TFS.itemByName('host'); // TextFrame: 'host' frame
dest = host.textFrames.itemByName('dest'); // TextFrame: 'dest' framesource.move(BEG,dest); // --> ID crash
//source.move(BEG,host); // WOULD BE OK
//source.duplicate(BEG,dest); // WOULD BE OK2 votes -

Upgrade XSLT enginge
Please consider upgrading the underlying XSLT 1.0 engine to at least XSLT 2.0 (if not XSLT 3.0)! It’s a pain to be forced to transform before going into InDesign or to write clumsy (for nowadays) XSLT 1.0 code.
Thanks, Tobias
