Bug When Overriding Master Page Items: Unexpected Shift of Master Page Objects
When overriding page items by script, those items are unexpectedly shifted and do not stay in the x/y position, they are on the master page. This differs widely from the UI-behaviour of InDesign.
There is a very good view and analysis of this bug from Marc Autret, which can be found here:

Still a problem in Adobe InDesign CC 2024.
I encountered this again with a document that was A4 Portrait and resized to A4 Landscape.

I have used AppleScript countless times in the past using InDesign CC 2021, 2020 and 2019. I've just started writing a new script today using InDesign CC 2022 (I also tested in CC 2023) and the master page items aren't just moving a little, they are moving more than an entire page's width and height, completely out into no mans land on the pasteboard. --I've fixed my issue by building my document again from scratch. I tried export to IDML as a way to "cleanse" the file but that didn't help. My un-tested theory is it might have something to do with custom/manual page size overrides, I think the document that was originally causing the issue either had multiple page sizes or had been resized at some point.

I ran into this today. In my own case, overriding a master page text frame by script causes it to move horizontally 5.9mm — which happens to be the difference between A4 and Letter page sizes.
A script that creates a Letter-sized document and overrides a master page text frame works fine on my Windows PC, but on my Mac causes the overridden frame to shift 5.9mm to the left.
A script that creates an A4-sized document and overrides a master page text frame works fine on my Mac, but in Windows causes the overridden frame to shift 5.9mm to the right.

And Kasyan_Servetsky gave a nice workaround in 2017 here:

Hi Tobias,
unfortunately the thread Marc Autret is linking to in his blog post does not work anymore.
The related discussion did not make it to the new forum. What a pain!Fortunately I saved the thread before the new forum was started.
I hope it gets through. Attached:
