    This option was updated in InDesign 20.0 version to match industry standards and stay consistent. We standardized this behavior to make workflows more predictable across products. 

    We know that changes can take some adjustment, and we appreciate the feedback we received. Over time, users have adapted to this new behavior, which helps us maintain consistency and avoid confusion in future workflows.

    The Senior Lead Software Engineer of InDesign calling his own decision to change something for the objective worse an "issue" that they're investigating is very funny, and that they can't even fix this within a month is positively hilarious.

  2. Opening a menu item such as preferences sets of the "error" sound in windows until the item is closed

    This also happens for me when using the Ctrl + D shortcut to Place a file. Same as you, the error sound continues repeatedly until the dialogue box is closed.
