We have fixed a number of crashes with InDesign’s latest Nov’17 update.
Please download the latest InDesign version (InDesign CC 13.0.1) for the fix.

If you are unable to see the update yet, go to Creative Cloud application, click on the context menu on the top right and click on Check for App Updates.Iona commented
Unfortunately I can't send the files as they are confidential. I am just placing in word docs and JPEGs. I've reverted back to the old version as I have no issues working in this version.
I am using Windows. I'm placing in text and images, not copying and pasting.
I am only getting messages that say:
"Adobe InDesing CC 2018 has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
Then it closes...
