   In the Beta versions of InDesign, it is now possible to Open PDFs.

   Lots of third party plug ins have been created - why not pick one of them to implement? Here's one from a "illustrator to indesign conversion" youtube search https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypyzFMKVxRE

   Looks like there is a 3rd party solution (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ypyzFMKVxRE) but would be great if it was built in
