    From a feature design perspective, it is weird that out-of-page Text Variables are able update their value as long as their text frame intersects the Bleed and Slug areas (not necessarily the page bounds), but not so Data Merge placeholders.

    Possibly related to the fact that “Neutral” language (as named inside IDML files and corresponding to “All languages” in the “User dictionary” window) is seemingly not present in the collection and therefore has no scripting support.
