This issue is addressed with a new option "Honor Text Indents in addition to Text Wrap" in Preferences > Composition dialog. This option is ON for new docs created in ID2023 and needs to be turned ON for docs created in older versions of InDesign when opened in ID2023.

Apparently this is not a bug, it's a fix to a long standing issue which makes it appear as a 2020 bug.

    Further details here:
    https://indesignsecrets.com/opening-old-documents-in-indesign-2020-can-cause-text-reflow.php

My workaround is a script that makes adjustments to files created ≤ ID2019 to ID2020. In the script can select based on page sizes.

Tried keeping two versions of ID 2019 and 2020 running but this ended up being a real pain to manage... and only a temp fix until they stop 2019.

Wondering why Adobe has not addressed problem, or offered a cleaner solution. For people who frequently edit files created in ID versions older than 2020 its a big problem.

    Hello,

Are there any updates to this issue?

I am having the same problem when using ID2020, and notice it when I try to use paragraph styles created in previous versions.

    For example:
there is an object along the edge of the page, when I apply a paragraph style with just the correct indent for that object (including the space for wrap), the text jumps to twice the required indent.

A workaround seems to be "no wraparound" for the image, copy paragraph style and adjust the indent.

Unfortunately this is time consuming and clunky.

    Many thanks,
