As confirmed by multiple users, this issue is fixed in latest version of InDesign.

An error occurred while saving the comment An error occurred while saving the comment Anonymous commentedI'm on InDesign 15.02, in Mojave 10.14.6. After I have initially packaged an indesign file, InDesign is automatically generating new packaged folders for those files with only font folders inside of them. as soon as I throw those bogus folders in the trash, a new folder is generated. I've put them all in a folder to do a count: there's 324 garbage items generated in 3 days.
I am doing many versions of many files at a fast pace and do not have time to be hunting around for which folder is the real one.Anonymous supported this idea · -

additionally! it seems to happen more often when I change the name of the document or package folder. regardless of what I "should" do, it's a requirement of my workflow.
