   This issue has been fixed by upgrading to MacOS Catalina . Various Illustrator users have confirmed that on upgrading their macOS issue is fixed.

   Please comment on this thread, if this issue is fixed in Catalina (10.15.1)

   I am having the same issue. Thank you for posting the video! Very helpful.

   iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) - 4 GHz Intel Core i7 - 32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3 - AMD Radeon R9 M395 2 GB
   MAC OS Mojave 10.14.6 It didn't matter what version of InDesign 2017-2019.

   One forum suggested:
   In Preferences> GPU Performance> Uncheck Animated Zoom and GPU Performance

   I can't be certain it helped because the problem is intermittent. Still looking for concrete answers.
   Went back to 2017 version of Indesign and and working my way forward through InDesign versions. The problem still happens -- just not as often.
