    Same issue, working on a brand new MacBook Air; Illustrator cursor was flickering and felt (as you say above) like it was swimming through mud.

    I also had InDesign and Photoshop open in the background; the second I closed Photoshop the issue went away!

    While this is an issue Adobe needs to address, for me, just knowing that I could make it stop by closing Photoshop has been a life-saver. Thanks!
