Hello All,
Following up on the comments stating that the issue is yet not fixed, we did our investigation and found that, the issues being called out in the comment section, though maybe relevant but are different than the one for which this thread was originally created.
This particular thread caters to a very specific case which has been fixed in the last update of InDesign.
If you continue to face performance related issues with InDesign, we sincerely request you to create a separate thread so that we can categorize the performance related issues and address them completely.
In addition to track the performance issues effectively, it will also enable us to reach out to you in a organised manner when we investigate into each category of performance issues. We are extremely sorry for the troubles you are facing with InDesign and we are determined to resolve them as efficiently…

I've had the same problems as many here. I was able to solve it on my computer (Mac, Mojave, Indesign CC 2019, Suitcase Fusion v20.0.3). Seems Suitcase Fusion was the problem. Go to InDesign > Type > Suitcase Fusion > Suitcase Fusion Auto Activation Preferences > Then unselect all boxes. This seems to have solved all my spinning wheel/latency problems. I even turned "enable font sense support" back on and everything seems to be working fine. Hope this helps some of you.
1 Version of Adobe InDesign, InCopy or InDesign Server: Adobe 21.4
2 Steps to reproduce the issues: Create an image box with an image in it (set content grabber to off). Create a text block with a few words of text in it. Select both the photo box and text box by either holding down shift button and clicking on each OR by dragging the mouse around both items so both are selected.
3 Expected result: If I move the mouse over the photo box it should allow me to move both the photo box and text box since both photo box and text box are selected (InDesign functioned this way for years and year until recent upgrade).
4 Actual result: If I move the mouse over the photo box and click to move both boxes (since both photo box and text box are selected), it deselects the text box (and any other items selected) and only moves the photo box. It does move both items if I select the text box to move them, but doesn’t work properly if I select the photo box to move both. This has been happening for several weeks at least.
