    Hi Sheila,

    I highly recommend you to use the latest version of InDesign (Adobe InDesign CC 2018).
    It has many new and exciting features.

    Hi,

    Please try to work after enabling the font preview from Preferences, if it is disabled.

    You can do it by going to Edit->Preferences->Type->Enable the option "Font Preview".
