We've just posted the latest InDesign PreRelease Build (20.1.0.70) in which we have done some performance improvements. We've also got this build validated by a couple of our Pro users and we believe that the Performance issue is fixed in this build.
We would like you to verify this new PreRelease build (available from the Adobe Creative Cloud Desktop App) and let us know if the performance issues that you were experiencing have got resolved with this build.

Even tried working in Safe Mode. Nothing worked.
It works for a short time when I reboot my computer. Takes 3 clicks to get it to work (ie, to select a word in a text box, I have to click 3 times).
I'm running Sequoia 15.1.1 on a 2.4 GHz 8 Core Intel Core i9 with 64 GB of RAM. InDesign 20.0.1.
It seems to happen on my machine after I open FontAgent which automatically "opens at login". So I have to open System Settings and delete it from "opens at login" which seems to fix the problem.
UPDATE - sometimes this works, sometimes it doesn't. Ugh.
