    Fix for this issue is now available in the latest InDesign Release version 20.1 (Build 20.1.0.71), available via Creative Cloud Desktop application.


    Please update your InDesign application to this latest version to get the fix.

    I forgot to mention in my first statement that I created a new file and made the text variables and they appeared correctly. Once I saved it to the cloud and applied the paragraph style is when they disappeared.

  4. text lag is severe in 17.3 compared to slight lag in 17.2
