   Please let us know if the below-mentioned workaround works for you:

   - Try restarting your Windows machine.
   - Use the “Restart” option and NOT “Shutdown”.

   (after 2021 update)
   As suggested by Toni Kerr, right-clicking on the file, selecting "open with" and choosing InDesign from my computer worked for me. No more blank icons.
