    As of September 2026, version 21.5.1, the bug still persists. Adobe must be too busy programming AI **** that nobody asked for or needs...
    If anyone is struggling with this, the workaround is to change the paragraph composer. Go to the Paragraph panel and switch from "Adobe World-Ready Paragraph Composer" to "Adobe Paragraph Composer". It fixes the issue instantly (as long as you don't need right-to-left text like Hebrew or Arabic in that specific footnote).
