I experience this issue as well. When I place an Illustrator document into InDesign, all images linked in the placed Illustrated do not display. The only surefire solution I have found is to embed the images, which massively inflates the file size, and is therefore not an ideal option.
This issue has a serious impact on my work, as all of my reports rely on Illustrator artboards placed on InDesign, many of which include linked images as textures. I am on a Mac, but my colleague has experiences the same issue on PC. Excited for it to be fixed by Adobe/ find a work-around.
