    This issue is fixed in the latest InDesign Release 21.1

    Please update your version of InDesign to this latest release whenever it becomes available in your locale via the CCD app.

    InDesign 2025 and this is still a thing. Why?
    This is incredibly frustrating!

    This seems to work as a workaround. You need to set both together.

    backdrop2.strokeWeight = 0;
    backdrop2.strokeColor = "None"
