Though it may not have worked for some, clearing the cache and deleting the preference file has resolved the issue for me, at least for now. See Joe's comment for instructions on how to do this.
"To do this, close inDesign, hold down shift+command+control+option, then click to open inDesign, while still holding down. Select yes at the window prompt, then open a document and test it out. You will lose your thumbnails to previous projects, and your workspace will default to Essentials (any saved workspaces will still be available). This has resolved the issue for me for now."
