   This issue got fixed in macOS Monterey 12.1 and upgrading to this OS (or later) will help overcome this issue.

   I'm on ID v17.3 / M1 Mac Mini / MacOS Big Sur 11.6.8 (20G730) and the highlighting is still wildly inconsistent.
