Glad I'm not the only one battling this. :) My gripe comes from a different angle, but the desired result is the same...
I am a career graphic designer who has been using InDesign since version 1.5 (the first real Quark killer!). Love the app, it's truly a joy to use.
BUT despite my having clocked countless hours with it, I cannot get used to having to take an extra step to change text colors (I actually never noticed the J hotkey, I guess I'll try to start using that even though it's on the mouse side of the keyboard 🙄). And as far as I know, this is the *only* CC app that requires that step.
This default behavior makes zero sense to me — sure, you *can* change the fill color of a text box, but it's a *text box*. What are the odds that the fill color is what I'm trying to change? Nine times out of ten, at least in my case, I'm changing the text. And sure, I get that Janet and I don't represent all users, but that's what Preferences are for. PLEASE add this option, Adobe.
