    We're happy to announce that we've reverted the icons of Selection Tool and Direct Selection Tool in the latest update of InDesign - version 17.2 that is available from Creative Cloud Desktop application.


    Please update to this latest version to see the change of these tool icons.

    Thanks to your explaination, I understand what you aimed to achieve, but...
    -the mouse pointers still are filled black or filled white (which is inverse to how the buttons are shown in dark/medium dark theme) and not "filled" and "hollow". No other two tools use the same icon, one dark/filled, one light/hollow. Therefore, other tools' buttons and pointers being inversed doesn't cause confusion.
    -Illustrator, belonging to the same product family, still displays both tool buttons the way they used to be, amplifying the inconsistency when working with both.

    In my experience, selection/direct selection are often referred to as "black arrow" and "white arrow", because that is what they are. Only now the buttons don't match ^^
