   Option ‘Prevent Selection of Locked Objects’ (under Preferences > General) should be checked. When this option is checked, it does not allow locked objects to get selected.

   Very much agree. The biggest issue for me with this is when using the black arrow and trying to drag a box over several items to select them. If I try to do this now over a locked object the locked object just gets selected instead of allowing me to drag a box. Really slowing me down.
