I'm told Illustrator has this too. I particularly want this feature to make hyperlinks more legible in print books / PDFs.
One reason many people avoid underlines is because they can often look so crude. It's surprising that an industry standard app used by typesetters and designers doesn't have a bit more flair with its underlines. And for something as long as a book or ebook it's impractical to do this manually.
