    In my case the culprit is the marquee selection tool in Photoshop CS6. . When clicked, it appears as a dashed square. Unusable for selecting objects or lines of text, because it can't be re-sized or respond to being moved around the screen. If I move a document to InDesign, it works there, but Photoshop tools aren't available to touch up the copy. Problem is limited to Photoshop. The other selection tools (including selector options) still work. Problem only seems to have appeared in the last 2 weeks, but believe I have seen it reported online as far back as 2013. Currently using Creative suite 6.
