    Getting into more details and answering the InDesign team's questions; indeed at the moment of the screenshot I sent, I was using a second display (iPad) where I had Acrobat with the reference document, while working in InDesign on the Macbook Pro's display (without moving ID to the other display). That said, I've experienced the same issue a few times without any extra monitor/display connected. Unfortunately, –like usual– when I try to replicate the problem to record it, it never cooperates.

    MacBook Pro 14" with Apple M1 Pro / macOS 12 Monterrey / Adobe InDesign 17.2.1
